Society; South Africa in the 1950s
This film, suppressed for many years, has been re-made and is a primary source for the struggle for equal rights. It poses many questions and illustrates many society problems which are still being addressed:
civil liberties, equal rights, discrimination, treatment of workers and employment issues, the role of women and education. The film maker Rogosin had to make the film clandestinely as South Africa was a Police State at that time. The following link:
